The East Coast Campus is planned and constructed in accordance with the overall development orientation of the school, with a capacity to accommodate 20,000 full-time students and the positioning type of a comprehensive university (Class 2). It covers a total land area of 1,551 mu, with a total construction area of approximately 821,000 square meters and a total investment of about 7 billion yuan.
The campus planning of the East Coast Campus basically follows the design style of the main campus of Shantou University, while integrating modern design concepts. It combines Chinese and Western elements, and the overall planning integrates the concepts of innovation, culture, intensification and ecology, forming a structural order of "riverside and coastal, surrounded by one water, two axes and three centers, and four belts in interaction". Based on the actual situation of the project's planned land use, adhering to the principle of "prioritizing functional use and overall coordination", the project has made an overall plan and set up functional zones such as the teaching and experimental area, living area, sports area, and central shared area.
The second phase is the student dormitory area (Athletes' Village), covering an area of approximately 369 mu and having a construction area of about 152,000 square meters. The construction content includes: 10 student dormitory buildings, 3 canteens, ancillary facilities, etc.
