2024年6月2日，由文学院全球研究中心开设的“全球视野与多文化研究能力的理论与实践”课程与国际学院的师生共同举办的多文化交流活动——汕大友会谈，在医学院806N圆满结束。

此次活动聚集了60多位汕头大学的同学，除了中国的同学，有近一半的参加者来自世界多个国家与地区，大家对不同话题进行了热烈的讨论。同学们在活动结束后纷纷表示打破了曾经对其他国家文化的刻板印象，并结交了新的朋友。

下面让我们来回顾本次活动吧！

Multicultural Chat @ STU, a multicultural exchange event organized by the Global Perspectives and Multicultural Research course (offered by the Center for Global Studies, CLA) and the School of International Education(SIE) was successfully held on June 2nd, 2024 at the SUMC 806N.

During the discussions, Shantou University students from different countries actively expressed their viewpoints with enthusiasm. After the event, many students said they had broken stereotypes about other cultures and made new friends.

首先，活动由分别来自中国和厄瓜多尔的两名同学担任主持，一起致开场词，她们对各位报名参与活动的同学表示了热烈欢迎，现场氛围热烈。在主持人详细介绍了活动规则及流程后，活动正式开始。

Firstly, the event kicked off with a warm welcome from two hosts representing different countries. They expressed their excitement and warmly greeted all the students who had signed up for the event. The atmosphere was lively. The hosts then proceeded to introduce the detailed rules and procedures of the activity, officially announcing its commencement.

接下来是由课程老师及活动指导老师赵无名进行发言。赵老师对来到现场的各位同学表示欢迎，同时指出：不论大家是来自哪个国家哪个地区的“你、我、他她”，都是我们汕大的同学。一组一组具有不同背景和特点的“我们”，也可以形成更多元共存，相互包容促进的“咱们”。

Next, the course instructor and activity supervisor, Prof. Zhao Wuming gave an opening remark, warmly welcomed all the participants, and emphasized that regardless of which country or region you come from, we are all part of the Shantou University community. Instead of using “us”, Prof. Zhao preferred to use “us together” to refer to all participants, for it creates a sense of closeness and highlights our interconnections.

热场表演结束，由两名表演的同学抽取第一个话题，我们的讨论便正式开始。第一个抽取到的话题是：你的兴趣爱好是什么？同学们分为五个组，每组十人，围在圆桌前进行讨论。大家轮流发言，现场气氛热烈。在第一个话题讨论结束后，各组分别派代表上台分享了讨论的成果。

The hot performance ended, with two students drawing the first topic. Our discussion officially began. The first topic drawn was: “What are your hobbies and interests?” Students were divided into five groups of ten people each, creating a lively atmosphere.

自由表演环节之后，同学们的热情再次被抽签选中的话题点燃，迫不及待地投入到关于“文化冲击”的讨论中。大家畅所欲言，从汕头的交通、公厕到饮食习惯等方面纷纷进行“吐槽”，表达着对当地文化的独特见解。

After a short break, the students' enthusiasm was reignited as they eagerly engaged in a discussion about “cultural shock”. Everyone freely expressed their thoughts, from transportation and public toilets in Shantou to dietary habits, offering unique insights into the local culture.

今宵，数十名来自世界各地的学子，不远万里欢聚汕大806N教室，分享不同的观点。这不仅是一次体验不同文化相互碰撞、互相接纳的难得机会，更是一次拓宽视野、增长见识的宝贵经历。通过这次活动，汕大的同学们不仅加深了对国际文化的理解和尊重，更将个体视野与国际视野相结合，形成了更加包容、开放的全球视野。

Tonight, dozens of students from different countries have gathered in Room 806N at Shantou University sharing different perspectives. This was not only a rare opportunity for cultural exchange and acceptance but also a valuable experience for broadening horizons and gaining knowledge. Through this event, the students of Shantou University have deepened their understanding and respect for international cultures, combining their perspectives with an international outlook to form a more inclusive and open global vision.

特别有趣的是，与国际学生相比，中国本地学生往往有不同的期望和习俗。这些讨论不仅增强了我对其他文化的了解，也强调了学生文化敏感性的重要性。

I find it particularly interesting how local Chinese students often have different expectations and customs compared to international students, based on their interesting questions. These discussions not only enhance my understanding of other cultures but also underscore the importance of cultural sensitivity among students.
