In October 2014, Long Ge primary school in Jinshi town set up a practice workshop of Chaozhou Tiezhi Puppet Show, and vigorously carried out learning and inheritance of the national intangible cultural heritage——Chaozhou Tiezhi Puppet Show, aiming at establishing a school featuring art education. The school invited a team represented by the national intangible cultural heritage inheritor Chen Peisen as training teachers, in order to help students experience the edification of art, master the performing art of puppet show and inherit intangible cultural heritage. The workshop also selected top students to set up practice workshop of Tiezhi Puppet Show, so as to learn further about the performing skills of puppet show.

In order to make it closer to the current trend, Chen Peisen and teaching assistants of the school broke tradition and arranged shows of modern themes that students like to see and hear, such as anti-drug puppet show “Retribution”, family ethics advocating puppet show “Often Go Home to Have a Look”, anti-school violence puppet show “On the Way” and so on. These puppet shows had integrated the inheritance of art and education of morality.

"Old Eel" (nickname), a junior two student, with a steel pipe in hand, call together some of his friends to block the way home of another student from a neighboring school who quarrels with "Old Eel" and to "teach him a lesson." The opening scene of the Tiezhi Puppet microfilm "On the Way" is also a familiar plot in many school violence cases. In March 2014, Zhuang and his classmate Chen, the junior ones of a middle school in Chao'an District, Teochew City, clashed over daubing pen oil over each other. To vent his resentment, Zhuang and Huang and the other five classmates beat Chen on the classroom corridor, resulting in Chen's death.

Taking the local traditional iron puppet show as a carrier and combining it with a confirmed juvenile crime case, the Procuratorate of Chao'an District, Chaozhou City, Guangdong Province brought the Tiezhi Puppet Show to the front row of law popularization and publicity through the form of microfilm. The innovation produced a surprising "chemical reaction" between this intangible cultural heritage and juvenile crime prevention. Local primary and middle school students widely welcomed the 15-minute microfilm.

Traditional puppets are used for theatrical performances with exaggerated images, and now they are presented in movies and sketches, which should be closer to real life. The subsequent modifications have mainly overcome these problems. In order to offer students a more intuitive sense, the school also invited the Tiezhi Puppet troupe to be part of the school show, puppet troupe staff on-site teaching, and students jumped on stage to experience how to "manipulate" the puppet, the scene atmosphere is warm. Chen Shaobang, director of the Chao'an District Cultural Center, said that the combination of school violence prevention and puppet show has made a great innovation in content and injected new life into the traditional puppet show.
